Leading the Pack is a family owned and operated grooming salon and boutique that features stylish grooms and 100% made in U.S.A products. Caitlyn has a very long history in animal care, which stems from life on a farm participating in 4H livestock competitions. Justin has a history in business operations and finance. Together both Cornellians opened Leading the Pack to provide for their family, which includes a toddler and two Welsh Terriers. Leading the Pack fills a much needed niche in dog care for Oakland and the East Bay, by giving canines and felines top notch one-on-one service and curated pet products.
We believe that every dog is different and even two dogs of the same breed may need completely different services. We customize each service based on the skin and coat condition of your pet, his or her temperament and the family's lifestyle. Every pet is treated with care and we operate on a one-on-one appointment schedule so your pet spends less time away from home. We do not offer walk-in services, as they distract groomers and pets that are in the middle of appointments. We do however offer appointments for nail trims and other quick services
Thank you for your Loyalty, Pack! We are unfortunately not accepting new clients until January 2020. Please shoot us an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any further questions.

Coat condition, size, temperament, intricacy of style requested, age and experience of the pet all are factors in how long an appointment will take. With so many factors influencing how much time we will need, for the first appointment we budget for the most amount of time for your type of pet and only charge for the time spent grooming..By doing this we don’t rush anybody because of over-scheduling and we find that this method of charging is most fair for everyone.
We are unfortunately not offering cat grooming services at this time. We ask that you reach out to Melissa Michelle Grooming in San Leandro for your feline friends!
Not all dogs enjoy being groomed and some require special care and attention. We try our best to accommodate all non-aggressive special-needs dogs, and our one-on-one approach makes the experience less stressful for every pet.
We can adapt how we perform our services to each dog’s particular need.
Elderly dog can’t stand? We have a variety of ways to comfortably groom a mobility impaired pet.
Rescue dog fearful of other pups? We can schedule you on a quieter day and time and build buffers into the schedule if your dog needs space.
Serious skin problems? We don’t up-charge for the shampoo and conditioner your pet NEEDS, which may include a medicated rinse soak or scrub.
Puppies are always welcome to join our Pack! We love grooming puppies and look forward to building a lifelong relationship with your pet. Starting your dog off on the right paw will set your puppy up for success on the grooming table. We encourage you to book your puppy a Bath and Brush service for their first appointment and there really is no reason to wait until the puppy is months old; so long as the puppy has had it’s shots we can groom them. First timers should expect a bit of table training to trim around the eyes and then a fun and cheerful introduction to bath and blow dry. We show the puppy all of the tools, sounds and vibrations and prepare them for full haircuts. Some puppies are able to do the entire haircut after the bath and blow dry, and others are overwhelmed and we finish the service. We give homework to almost every puppy parent: targeted tasks to help better prepare your dog for some of the holds and techniques associated with grooming. We even will give you a proper tool and technique demonstration to help you care for your puppy’s coat. By getting your puppy in early and often you help them associate grooming with a positive experience that is part of their daily or weekly routine.
